On August 30th the Government of Chile convened a meeting with Civil Society Organizations to share the results of the IV Meeting of the Negotiating Committee for a Regional Agreement on Principle 10 in Latin America and the Caribbean. The meeting was held in the Ministry of Environment located in Santiago, Chile, where Elected Representative of the Public on this process, Andrea Sanhueza, highlighted the participation and coordination of the elected
representatives and the public in the meeting, noting that it has strengthened dialogue. She also emphasized the positive support the governments provided to eight of the public’s proposals, which can be considered as significant contributions. On the other hand, Sanhueza highlighted that part of the challenge is that there are still countries that negotiate on the basis of laws established by their national legislations, while the objective is to ensure a progressive text to establish a regional standard.
